A compact garden plant with large, full size violet-blue flowers with yellow-orange eyes on sturdy stems; attracts butterflies; may treat as a perennial and cut it back to the ground each spring as it regrows vigorously and blooms on new wood. Pugster® Blue Butterfly Bush features showy panicles of fragrant violet flowers with blue overtones and orange eyes at the ends of the branches from mid summer to mid fall. The flowers are excellent for cutting. Its narrow leaves remain grayish green in colour throughout the season. Pugster® Blue Butterfly Bush is an open multi-stemmed perennial with a more or less rounded form. Its medium texture blends into the garden, but can always be balanced by a couple of finer or coarser plants for an effective composition. This is a relatively low maintenance plant, and is best cut back to the ground in late winter before active growth resumes. It is a good choice for attracting bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. It has no significant negative characteristics. Typically grows 2' x 3'
