'Ambrosia' is a cultivar of apple originating in British Columbia, Canada in the early 1990s. The original tree was first cultivated by the Mennell family of Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, who discovered it growing in their orchard.
Ambrosia apples are sweet and honey-like, and sweet apples are great for eating out of hand. They also do not turn brown easily when cut, making them a great salad or snack apple. They are perfect for amenity baskets.
Ambrosia Apple will grow to be about 20 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 15 feet. It has a low canopy with a typical clearance of 4 feet from the ground, and is suitable for planting under power lines.
